The 5 Apps Every Shopify Resale Store Should Have (and Why)
By Nate Reinhart

Intro - Why me?
After nearly six years of building and running a sneaker and streetwear resale business on Shopify, I scaled to two locations within Canada. During that time, my store handled over 50,000 orders, and I faced all the real challenges resale operators deal with: managing consignment inventory, negotiating buyouts, hiring and training staff, handling “missing” inventory from unclear ownership, constant SKU changes, and the headaches of selling limited, irregular inventory at scale.
When I left the business in 2024, I shared my story on Instagram, talking about what it was like to run a Shopify resale store.

So, why help other stores instead of just growing my own?
My business could only grow so much. Limits like location, partnerships, and operations set a ceiling. I realized I could make a bigger difference by helping solve problems for the whole resale industry, not just my own company. That’s what I’m working on now.
Because of that experience, my views on which Shopify apps actually work for resale businesses come from real operations, not just reading blogs. I’ve tested these apps with my own money, time, and under real pressure for years. Most “Top Shopify Apps” lists are for DTC brands with unlimited inventory from one supplier. Resale is different.
You’re dealing with:
Irregular inventory from multiple sources
Sold-out sizes by default
Multiple owners for the same SKU
Customers searching for very specific attributes
Thin margins where every operational bottleneck hurts
After running my own stores and now building tools for other resale operators, these are the five essential Shopify apps I consistently used and now recommend to every resale business we advise.
Just real tools that work, and the reasons why.
Let's dive in…

1. Paireeo — Store-Owned Inventory & Consignment
Category: Store inventory + consignor management
Solves: Ownership, tracking, and trust issues
Shopify assumes your store owns 100% of its inventory at a fixed cost.
Once you introduce different costs for the same item, consignors, shared SKUs, variable payouts, or any form of accountability beyond "we own everything, and don't track profit" you immediately outgrow Shopify's native inventory logic for resellers.
Paireeo exists to handle that gap.
It lets your resale store:
Track who owns what (consignor or store-owned)
Manage variable costs within the same SKU
Gives each consignor a profile & login portal to see their inventory
Eliminate “missing” inventory from unclear ownership
Publish buying/looking for lists (Eliminates “Are you guys buying?”)
Built directly into Shopify, no 3rd party websites
This isn’t just a nice extra for growth. It’s a system that builds trust and clarity.
Bottom line: If your inventory isn't 100% owned by your store with the same fixed costs, you need tooling that acknowledges reality.
Cost: One plan for everyone with all features. 0.95% transaction fee. This fee can be automatically built into or added to your listing price.

2. Product Filter & Search — Customers Can't Buy What They Can't Find
Category: Search & filtering
Solves: Poor product discovery
Resale customers aren't browsing randomly. They're searching by size, brand, condition, price, category, and availability.
Shopify's native filtering is too limited for resale.
Product Filter & Search enables advanced, custom filters so customers can actually narrow down inventory properly.
Why this matters:
Higher conversion rates
Less friction
Fewer abandoned sessions
Better experience as your inventory grows
Bottom line: If customers can't find what they want, you’ll run out of money.
Cost: They have a Free trial, and their support is great, but it operates on Asian time zones. After the free trial, they charge $9.99USD, depending on inventory quantity.

3. FlowStream — Turnover Is Everything in Resale
Category: Product automation
Solves: Manual listing bottlenecks
Turnover is crucial for resale stores. If it takes 3 to 10 minutes to create one listing and you just bought 60 pairs, that’s 3 to 10 hours spent building products. How much does that cost in staff time? Are your listings consistent? Does your website look as good as your store?
FlowStream saves time by letting you create products in seconds from SKUs, instead of copying similar products and taking screenshots from StockX or GOAT.
Why it matters to you:
Less time on listings you only have 1 size for
Fewer human errors
Consistent titles, descriptions, and metadata structure
More time spent sourcing inventory instead of listing it
Bottom line: If listing speed slows down, everything else in your business is affected.
Cost: Two plans, Free & Pro. Free gets you 10 shoes per month, and Pro for $59 USD gets you unlimited products each month.

4. Pre-Order Pro — Turn Sold-Out Sizes Into Demand Signals
Category: Restock notifications
Solves: Missed sales from sold-out sizes
Resale stores are almost always sold out by default. You might only stock one or two sizes on drop day.
When a customer doesn't see their size, they leave, unless you give them a reason not to.
Pre-Order Pro lets customers register interest for specific sizes. When inventory is added, they're automatically notified. But it also shows you exactly what shoes & sizes people want, so you can make informed buying decisions.
Why this is powerful:
Captures demand you'd otherwise lose
Requires zero manual follow-up
Turns restocks into instant sales
Helps you understand what sizes & models actually move
Bottom line: Sold-out items don’t have to mean lost sales.
Cost: Free plan with 100 automated emails a month. Also comes with some Pre-order features to gauge demand for upcoming drops.

5. Bargain – Make an Offer — Sell Used Inventory Faster
Category: Pricing & negotiation
Solves: Stagnant used inventory
Used shoes don't behave like new products. They sit longer, have higher margins, need more pictures and usually require price flexibility.
Bargain – Make an Offer lets customers submit offers on used or any items, adding a negotiation step that matches how resale works in real life.
Why it works:
Moves slow-moving inventory
Increases engagement
Protects margins
Feels natural to resale buyers
Bottom line: Negotiation is part of resale, and this app brings it to your online store.
Cost: Free, but requires integration with Mailgun to send automated emails. Paireeo is currently working on a feature that lets website visitors send offers directly to your consignors (just like StockX offers), then you just set your margin.

Less is more
Why These 5 (and Not 20 Others)
Adding more apps doesn’t always make your operations better.
For sneaker resale stores on Shopify, each app adds complexity, and every integration can be a risk. Using fewer, purpose-built tools works better than having too many.
The goal isn’t to install every app, but to set up the right tools for how resale really works.
Together, these five apps cover the operational friction that kills most Shopify resale stores:
Inventory ownership and trust (Back-end)
Product filtering & discovery (Sales)
Listing speed (Intake)
Out of Stock notifications (Insights & outreach)
Online offers (Negotiation)
These five apps cover about 99% of the recurring problems you’ll face.
Anything beyond these should be added carefully and for a good reason, not just because a blog post suggested it.

Final Take
If you run a Shopify resale store, your biggest challenges aren’t branding or themes. Brands like Nike and adidas already create hype. Your real challenge is making your operations smoother so you can grow.
Don’t build your store like a DTC brand. Build it for irregular inventory, speed, transparency, and how buyers actually shop.
The five apps above aren’t just theory. I used them for years, and I still recommend them.
Everything else is optional.
Not sure which app to start with? Install the one that solves your biggest problem first. You can always add the others as your business grows.
